Visiting Te Rauhītanga – The Gathering Place
We invite you to explore and discover more about what makes Te Rauhītanga special, and about the work that we do here at Manaaki Whenua.
Our Lincoln site sits within the rohe (region/ territory) of Te Taumutu, and key parts of the cultural narrative of the area have been woven into the design of our new buildings. Of particular significance is the trail and trading route, punctuated with wharerau (shelters), that stretches along Kaitōrete Spit in the same way that Main Street links aspects of our working environment.
The narrative of the rohe was shared with us by Puamiria Parata-Goodall on behalf of Te Taumutu Rūnanga.
Our building contains spaces where you can explore some of our past and present research through a mixture of static displays and interactive experiences.
