Research interests

I am a Researcher in Pedology and Soil Science based in Kirikiriroa Hamilton. I work largely in soil mapping throughout New Zealand to contribute to updating our online soil map - Smap. This involves creating soil-landscape model that can be extrapolated to a larger area and create maps for large areas, such as the Rotorua Lakes, updated in August 2023. This aims to provide accurate and quality soil information and the data supports a range of farm management decisions such as nutrient budgeting, farm environment plans, irrigation, and farm effluent application.

I am also experienced in farm-scale soil mapping, contributing to research on wastewater application and soil suitability, as well as being involved in soil quality research such as soil carbon, wetland delineation, and urban compaction.
