Life history

  • Caterpillars feed nocturnally on leaves of Kawakawa (Macropiper excelsum) and other native shrubs including ake–ake (Dodonaea viscosa) and horopito (Pseudowintera)
  • Most kawakawa plants have holes in the leaves made by these caterpillars
